The Rock is an armored utility vehicle built on the Ford F-Series commercial chassis that was designed in the field, for the field by those that rely upon it in the field. It is built from experience. It is mobile, adaptable and robust and has saved many lives.
The Rock PSV has been used in a variety of roles from personnel transport to counter assault and convoy protection and was introduced in the early days of the reconstruction effort after Gulf War II. It was initially used to provide protection to construction workers as they transited between sites and was then utilized by Private Security Companies on various missions associated to the logistics requirements of reconstruction programs. The Rock is still saving lives today and is now a common sight on the roads of Iraq where it is providing the much needed support that it was designed for.
The Rock PSV has B6 protection as standard which, on request can be upgraded or factory built to Level B7 requirements. The Rock is manufactured from ballistic steel and all welds conform to Ground Combat Vehicle Welding Code AWS D.1.1. It has a 10mm one-piece V shaped hull that is overlapping with the main body of the vehicle. It has two roof hatches which can accommodate 360 degree rotating gun turrets. The transparent armor is 56mm UL Level 8 flat glass that is interchangeable. It has large doors at the rear and sides and is open plan for ease of command and control.
